Personal Introduction :
The Personal Introduction is an opportunity for you to get familiar with PTE test technology. You will get 25 seconds to prepare and 30 seconds to record your response. This item is not marked but will be shared along with your scorecard to the institutions chosen by you. You are allowed to respond only one time. You cannot pause or rerecord in between. Record audio including an introduction for 25 seconds (academic and immigration purpose separately)
Read Aloud:

A passage is visible on the screen. Read the passage aloud. There are 6-7 tasks in this question type. You will have a display of a text that will be up to 60 words. You will get 30-40 seconds to be ready by going through. Time to reply differs by the item, relying upon the length of text. For this sort of item, you need to read a visible passage aloud. The recording status displays a countdown of 30 – 40 seconds to prepare, based upon the length of the text, until the microphone is activated.
After you hear the beep sound, you need to speak. Do not begin speaking before the microphone activates because your voice will not be recorded. One must speak with clarity. There is no need to hurry. Complete responding prior to the recording bar ends. The term ‘Recording’ changes to ‘Completed’. You can record the response just once. You can get a maximum of 3 points for the content spoken, a maximum of 5 points for oral fluency, and a maximum of 5 points for pronunciation.
Repeat Sentence:

It is the second question type where after listening to an audio file of a sentence, you need to repeat the sentence. You will hear an audio file in between 3-9 seconds and are given 15 seconds to reply. For this sort of item, you need to repeat the audio you listen to. Speak into the microphone instantly (there is no short tone played) and repeat exactly what you heard. The audio begins to play automatically within a gap of 2 seconds.
Once the audio finishes, after 2 seconds, the microphone opens and the recording status box shows “Recording”. You should speak clearly. There is no need to hurry. Finish answering before the progress bar reaches the end. Once it ends the word “Recording” changes to “Completed”. For this item, you can get a maximum score of 3 for content, a maximum of 5 for oral fluency, and a maximum of 5 points for pronunciation.
Describe Image:

The third question type will examine speaking skills by describing an image. There will be 6-7 questions. Here, an image appears on the screen. Describe the image in detail. You have 25 seconds to go through the image and prepare your answer. For this item, utilize the Erasable Notepad to make notes. After that, you hear a beep sound.
After the beep sound, start speaking instantly. You will have 40 seconds to reply and must complete answering before the progress bar reaches the end. In this item, you can receive a maximum of 5 points for content, a maximum of 5 points for oral fluency, and a maximum of 5 points for pronunciation.
Re-tell Lecture:

The fourth question type, Re-tell Lecture, will test your speaking and listening skills. There are 3-4 questions in this item type. You will come across a lecture of maximum of 90 seconds and will have 40 seconds to respond. For this sort of item, one needs to re-tell what he/she heard. The lecture begins to play within 3 seconds on its own. At times, one may also see an image related/not-related to the audio. While the lecture is going on, one can write key points on the given erasable notepad.
After the audio ends, one has 10 seconds to prepare. To finish the task, in-depth, you will need to cover the circumstance, names, features, activities, and progress given in the audio. You can get a maximum score of 5 points on content, a maximum of 5 points on your oral fluency, and a maximum of 5 points for pronunciation.
Answer Short Question:

The fifth question type, Answer Short Question, will examine speaking and listening skills. There are 10-12 questions in this item. Here, you will be given a duration of 3-9 seconds and will get 10 seconds to answer the question.
You will need to answer a short question with an understandable, easy, one word or a few words. This would not assess general knowledge; it will just check your command over vocabulary. You will get 1 point per correct response. No points are allotted for not answering or the wrong answers.
Summarize Written Text:

In the first question type in the writing segment, you will need to Summarize Written Text, which will assess writing and reading skills. You will see a text of up to 300 words and get 10 minutes to write your response. You will come across 2-3 of such questions relying on the collaboration of questions in the given exam. In this evaluation, you must attempt just one sentence.
Attempt utilizing the erasable Notepad to make notes of the key points. Be sure to have the key points of the text in a complete, single sentence of not more than 75 words. You can get a maximum score of 2 points for content, a maximum of 1 point for the formal requirements, a maximum of 2 points for grammar, and a maximum of 2 points for vocabulary.
Write an Essay:

The last question type of the Speaking and Writing Test will assess writing skills. In this question type, you will be given 2-3 sentences of text and have 20 minutes to answer, by writing a 200-300 words argumentative response on a given topic. Time management is essential for this item as you will require aiming, writing, and proofreading your essay. In this question, there are many sections where you can get points.
You can get a maximum of 3 points for the content, a maximum of 2 points for the formal requirements, and a maximum of 2 points for development, structure, and coherence. You can also get a maximum score of 2 points for grammar, maximum of 2 points for general linguistic range, a maximum of 2 points for vocabulary range, and a maximum of 2 points for no spelling mistakes. There is a total of 15 points that you can get in this question type.
